PARLEY MALDIVES

CREATING THE BLUEPRINT FOR GLOBAL CHANGE

Parley for the Oceans addresses today’s major ocean threats through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach with creativity and eco-innovation at its core.

To end the fast-growing threat of marine plastic pollution, Parley devised a scalable strategy — Parley AIR: Avoid, Intercept, Redesign — with initiatives focused on Education and Communication, Direct Impact, Eco-Innovation, and Research and Development.

Through collaborative projects and a nationwide program, Parley Maldives brings the Parley for the Oceans global network, AIR strategy and vision for a blue future to local schools, businesses and communities across the Maldivian islands.

The diminishment of biodiversity in our oceans is the single greatest threat to the survival of humanity. The oceans provide more than half the world’s available oxygen. They provide food and livelihoods for millions. They regulate the planet’s climate, weather and temperature. Yet today, the oceans are under threat.

With diminishment of species in the oceans comes diminishment of the quality of life for humanity. Broken and outdated systems have driven decades of exploitation and overconsumption, causing chemical, oil, noise and plastic pollution, global warming, ocean acidification, illegal fishing and overfishing, agricultural runoff and an endless list of environmental and social injustices. The threats are many. So are the solutions.

PARLEY AIR
AVOID. INTERCEPT. REDESIGN

Parley AIR is the strategy to end the fast-growing threat of marine plastic pollution and help drive solutions to the climate crisis. We believe plastic is a design failure — a symbol of the toxic age we created. To fix it, we must reinvent the material itself. Parley is calling for a Material Revolution. Everyone is invited to participate.
