As a response to the request of the local community, we offer English classes to the local people, particularly the younger generation. Classes are offered to anyone willing to learn and enjoy a safe learning environment, where their needs are catered for through carefully differentiated planning. With population growth, development of the region and the predicted increase of tourism coming to the islands, we are providing these remote communities with valuable access to English skills offering them an opportunity to develop sustainable initiatives.
The Mentawai Islands is one of the most consistent surf destinations in the world. Our founding company, The Perfect Wave Surf Experience, represent many quality surf charters and surf resorts/lodges in this area and send hundreds of happy surfers here every season. All of these operators seek to employ local Mentawai people provided they have the qualifications, with strong English Language being one of the major skills required.
